Sportsmanship: fair and respectful behavior or treatment of others
This is just a reminder for the people who have may have forgotten.
Having spent countless hours here, I can say with near certainty that 95 percent of the people that come through our doors to play, coach or root for their family or friends display great sportsmanship. Thank you. But I do believe we should expect 100 percent.
In the past week we have had:
A coach confronted by the parent of the opposing team in the parking lot
A coach and a player kicked out of a game and a parent walk on to the field to confront a referee
Two parents yelling at each other behind the goal area, using profanity and making my staff worry that a fight may start. And this was on a Sunday morning for a kid's game with a table of Girl Scouts selling cookies right behind them.
Root for your kids, cheer them on. Applaud fair play. Don't tolerate dirty play, being a bully or the need to argue with officials, coaches or other parents. Practice good sportsmanship.
The instances of having to think about removing someone from the facility have been few and far between until recently. So, here I am writing a reminder and asking people to display something that seems so basic: Good sportsmanship.
Pass it on.

With the snow and freezing rain coming our way tonight, we are going to push the start of the field hockey season to next week (Jan. 16).
If you want to come over tonight, we will offer a free open gym from 6-8 PM to practice and scrimmage.
In looking at the forecasted snow for tonight and tomorrow, we are comfortable keeping on schedule except for one small tweak to 12U soccer.
Here's the rundown:
Men's Basketball: On schedule. First game starts at 9 AM.
12U Soccer: First game has been pushed back to 9 AM.
14U Soccer: On schedule. First game starts at 1 PM.
HS Girls: On schedule. First game starts at 4 PM.
Please check our calendar to confirm your game: https://teamup.com/kssek3w32773kgwo45

The Fieldhouse Co-Ed and Open soccer leagues start Monday, Jan. 8. We're expanding both leagues to 12 weeks for this session. The cost is $1,200 per team.
Games for both leagues are held on Monday and Friday nights. If more time slots are needed, we will add other weekday nights.
As a reminder, the Open league does not have a requirement for the number of male or female players in the game, while the Co-Ed league requires at least one male player and one female in the game at all times.
We are expecting these leagues to fill up, so register and reserve your spot today!
Join Keene State College coaches Matt Caron and Matt Schmidt for three days of skills, drill, fun and games. Each day consist of a two-hour session, with Coach Caron working with goalies and Coach Schmidt handling field players. The first session of the day is from 8-10 AM and is for players 10U-14U. The second session runs from 10-noon and is for high school boys and girls.
We are expanding our winter youth soccer session to 12 weeks.
Over the past couple of years we have found the strongest interest in indoor youth soccer is January, February and March. Once we get into April, some teams struggle to keep their rosters intact because spring sports are starting. So, instead of running two 8-week sessions (Jan.-Feb. and March-April), we are going to run one 12-week session from January through March. We will re-evaluate at a later date to see if another spring-time session is in demand.
Here are the dates for each age group:
10U (Friday evenings): January 5 to March 22
12U (Sunday mornings): January 7 to March 27
14U (Sunday afternoons, some weeknights): January 7 to March 27
HS Girls (Sunday evenings): January 7 to March 27
HS Boys: (Saturdays, some weeknights): January 6 to March 26
If you are playing on a team, have your team contact register and pay the team team fee. If you are a free agent, sign up and we will do our best to place you on a team.
There is no team registration for the 10U Division. Sign up and pay as individuals. You can request to be placed on a team.
For more information, email jim@thefieldhousenh.com.
We are offering a 12-week men's basketball winter session to keep you playing from January through March.
We are planning to run an A and B Division based on signups. Games are held on Sunday mornings, starting January 7.
The cost is $1,200 per team. Free agents can join for $120 and we will help place you on a team.
The Fieldhouse is excited to introduce the FAC Early Development Program for soccer players ages 6-8.
The EDP is a five-week program that runs every Saturday and is under the direction of FAC Coaching Director Matt Caron.
The first of three scheduled winter sessions starts Saturday, Dec. at 8:15 AM. Click here to register.
The Fieldhouse is closed Wednesday and Thursday, but we are back for more fun and games on Friday.
Please note: The Smash Factory baseball clinic is still on for Wednesday night.
Happy Thanksgiving!
